Training Specialist Advisor

Our work depends on Training Specialist Advisor joining our team to Develop, organize, and conduct training and educational programs for fleet sailors in support of Surface Combat Systems Training Command – San Diego (SCSTC-SD) San Diego Learning Site, San Diego, CA. Training program requires ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support laboratory training. Candidate would serve as a Navy Surface Warfare Subject Matter Expert for the development and delivery of the Surface Warfare Commanders Course to Naval Officers and Enlisted students. When required, the candidate would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development and delivery of other SCSTC courses supporting the Navy Aegis and SSDS Surface Warfare tactics.

HOW A TRAINING SPECIALIST ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

● Provides dynamic teaching & training as well as assessments that require advanced knowledge of U.S. Aegis & SSDS Combat System Capabilities and Limitations.

● Reviews and analyzes U.S. Navy Engineering Capabilities and Limitations and U.S. Navy Operational and Tactical doctrine as it applies to the dynamic operational tactical environment.

● Observes and assesses contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches per requirements NAVEDTRA 135.

● Prepares, reviews, and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.

● Supports course reviews and curriculum updates, conducts training gap analysis and provides formal feedback and recommendation for course improvement.

● Documents the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas / watch station and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report.

● Develops, tests, maintains, and delivers moderately complex training programs and related materials in support of SCSTC training objectives.

● Must be capable of conducting knowledge-based classroom instruction and performance/scenario based laboratory training.

● Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.

● Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.

● Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

● Education: BA/BS (or equivalent experience)

● Required Experience: Six (6) years of experience operating or directing organic sensors and systems used to execute Surface Warfare engagements at the ship, Surface Action Group (SAG), Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG), and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) level. Experience training/teaching SUW to others in a master level training environment required. Of the six (6) years, one (1) years of experience as an Instructor in a formal Navy individual training environment, to include; presentation skills, public speaking skills, curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems is required, with one of those years using training systems/simulations for effective and correct presentation of learning objectives.

● Security Clearance Level: Secret

● Required Skills and Abilities: Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Travel may be required up to 20% of time.

● Preferred Skills: Experience as a Master/Afloat Training Specialist is a significant plus.

The likely salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
