Noblis Waterfront Technician, Machinery Controls System in San Diego, California

Responsibilities

The Naval Surface Warface Center Philadelphia/San Diego (NSWCPD) Machinery Control Systems (MCS) group (Code 552) is seeking a technician to support shipboard testing efforts in support of the DDG HM&E Mid-Life Upgrades Program. The candidate must have experience as an electrical technician, and the ability to troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics. The candidate will be expected to work on a flexible work schedule to ensure priority tasking can be completed in the allotted timeframe. The candidate will be tasked by and report to technical leads within Code 552. The candidate will be expected to provide documented status updates on a regular basis.

This position is located in San Diego, CA.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics.

  2. Provide test support for all variants of fielded systems at LBES and shipboard.

  3. Provide shipboard software and hardware installation support of all DDG 51 variants of fielded systems at LBES and shipboard.

  4. Provide documented status updates on a regular basis.

  5. Act as a liaison between shipboard test team and technical leads back in Philadelphia

  6. Maintain source information between jobs and tasking.

  7. Aid in test procedure verification, edits, and implementation.

Required Qualifications

Experience Required

  1. 3 to 5 years of experience as an electrical technician, GSE, ET, or ETV.

  2. Experience tracing signals and diagnosing or isolating cause for electrical failures.

  3. Experience with grounded and ungrounded systems.

Technical Skillsets Required:

  1. Basic electrical troubleshooting skills to include the ability to use a digital multimeter.

  2. Basic electrical principals to include understanding the difference between current, voltage and resistance as well as how to effectively troubleshoot circuits containing them.

  3. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

  4. Proficiency with a personal computer (PC)

  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook)

  6. The ability to learn new PC applications as needed.

  7. Reasonable problem-solving ability.

  8. Attention to detail and meticulous documentation of testing, troubleshooting steps, and findings.

Travel:

  1. Regular expected travel frequency away from your permanent location may be up to 30-50%.

Desired Qualifications

Advanced Skillsets Desired:

  1. Advanced computer skills to include use of HyperTerminal, Putty, or an equivalent serial interface.

  2. Ability to use an oscilloscope and signal generator.

  3. US Navy shipboard experience in engineering department.

  4. Professional written and oral skills are required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.

  2. Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.

  3. This position requires 100% onsite workload at Shipyards and Naval Stations. It will be Mandatory to obtain and maintain necessary clearance to both.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.

USD $24.47 - USD $42.84 /Hr.
