Uber Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting in San Francisco, California

In Finance, we work hand-in-hand with leaders across the company to ensure smooth, disciplined execution of strategic business objectives. Our Accounting team builds scalable, controlled processes and products for Global Accounting, Treasury, and FinTech that enable our business to operate efficiently.

About the Role

This individual will report to the Financial Reporting Manager and will be a significant contributor to our Financial Reporting function. This individual will collaborate with teams throughout the accounting and finance organization to ensure the timely and accurate completion of key reporting activities. This individual may also assist with certain month-end activities.

The ideal candidate must have a strong accounting background, a good understanding of GAAP and SEC regulations and will possess excellent communication and writing skills. The candidate must also be attentive to details, and be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while working with cross-functional teams, including tax, corporate finance, technical accounting, treasury and legal (both locally and internationally). The candidate will develop strong working relationships with business partners and various levels of management.

What You'll Do

  • As a key member of the Financial Reporting team, assist in preparing the periodic financial statements (Form 10-K and 10-Q), other SEC filings (e.g. 8-K) and internal management reporting packages

  • Maintain, format, and roll-forward SEC filings within our cloud-based SEC reporting platform (Workiva). Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and documentation for SEC filings and ownership of tie-outs

  • Quarterly, prepare the face financial statements and supporting calculations and support

  • Manage and coordinate additional management documentation and other key control support

  • Responsible for the completion of quarterly and annual GAAP disclosure checklists

  • Partner with Technical Accounting to properly assess the impact of significant transactions on financial statement disclosures and assist with disclosure requirements

  • Perform certain monthly financial close activities, including, account reconciliations etc.

  • Assist with review of XBRL tagging requirements

  • Support external auditors with their quarterly reviews and annual audits to ensure the 10Q/K is filed timely

  • Support SOX compliance for processes related to financial reporting and disclosure controls; mitigate and remediate SOX compliance issues identified through internal and external audit processes

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to optimize the financial reporting process

  • Assist with ad-hoc or special projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business

  • 3+ years' experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license or parts passed

  • Knowledge of of US GAAP, FASB pronouncements, and SEC rules and regulations and public company audit requirements

  • Strong research and project management skills as well as presentation skills

  • System savvy and ability to work with different applications and databases. Experience with Oracle R12, HFM, SmartView a plus. Workiva/WDesk experience highly preferred

  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, competing priorities

  • Teamplayer, dependable and flexible. Quick learner, enjoys change, takes initiative, self-starter, and enjoys problem solving

  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and effectively manage and meet critical deadlines

  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic and able to work independently with minimal supervision

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$117,000 per year - USD$130,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
