Staff Engineer (Quality)

Location: OnSite - San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato .

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the supervision of the Industrial Engineering and Quality Manager, this position is responsible of coordinate the Quality Assurance activities to ensure that products meet specified quality requirements through PWA & UFR indicator. Also, is responsible for Incoming Inspection Area, to ensure that the materials used in packed pieces meets the Kohler standards. In addition, manage the quality laboratory for dimensional and functional testing as required for current production and new products introduction and calibration service for all the critical equipment utilized in the plant.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of PWA Area for final packed audit, in order to ensure that the products meet the quality standards according to Global Aesthetic Standard – Vitreous Division.

Responsible for % PWA and UFR indicators, ensuring to meet the objectives planned. Weekly and monthly reports must be delivered to Industrial Engineering and Quality Manager including preventive and corrective actions to meet the goals.

Carry out weekly and monthly meetings with General Supervisor of FPP, Industrial Engineering and Quality Manager and Sr. Global Manager of Quality to execute action plans to reduce % PWA and UFR indicators.

Organize weekly PWA Management Audit with all General Supervisors and Managers, to audit current production pieces and establish action plans to improve the quality of the production.

Responsible of certification of 1F and 2F Inspectors of FPP Area, according to the Global Aesthetic Standard – Vitreous Division and validate what has been learned through an R&R Test.

Manage and coordinate Incoming Inspection Area, to guarantee that direct materials are inspected according to technical drawings and no critical characteristics are being affected before releasing to Production.

Manage of Quality Laboratory, ensure that a daily plan is being followed, in which we test current production pieces and new products in dimensional and performance criteria.

Ensure that standard procedures are being followed on Quality Laboratory when performing dimensional and performance tests.

Coordinate product verification on Quality Lab, for new products introduction, dimensional and performance test. Working alongside NDP and NPI engineers.

Work alongside with NPI Engineer to analyze those pieces that are outside the Kohler standard and propose a solution or improvement for the product and/or to the current process.

Manage internal calibration service for all the equipment that is critical to the plant and establish a verification frequency depending on the equipment wear.

Provide support to all areas in the plant to reduce quality defects and guarantee best practices are being implemented.

Ensure that SOP are standardize and being followed in PWA, Incoming Inspection and QA Laboratory.

Develop associates for improved level of performance in current role, a higher level of engagement, and for promotion capability in the future, complying with Mexican government requirements.

Comply with the Health and Safety Roles and Responsibilities established for this position.

Supervisory Relationships:

Direct report to Industrial Engineering and Quality Manager.

Dotted Line to Sr. Global Manager of Quality.

Organization Relationships:

High contact with General Supervisors and Managers.

High contact with Bajío NPI Engineer.

Frequent contact with NPD Kohler Engineering.

External Relationships:

Frequent contact with direct material’s suppliers.

Frequent contact with calibration service suppliers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Engineering degree.

EXPERIENCE:

Preference 2-5 years of related experience on implementing Quality Systems.

Preference of Ceramic Vitreous knowledge

FORMATION:

Management of personal.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based software tools.

Ability to professionally communicate in the English language (Priority).

Preferred knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015 and 17025.

Use of work methodologies: Procedures, work instructions, Standards (ASME, NOM, CSA).

Laboratory management.

Basic Metrology Knowledge.

Reading comprehension of plans and dimensional measurements.

Warranty management.

Solving problems methodology. (PDCA, 5whys 8D, A3, Ishikawa, Shainin).

Six Sigma methodology.

Statistical processes control.

Core Tools. (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Control Plan).

Supplier quality Management.

Negotiations with internal and external clients.

SAP.
