POSITION POSTING
TITLE: Medical Administrative Assistant (MAA) -- Rural Health Clinic
DEPARTMENT: Healthcare Practices STATUS: Full Time (40 hours per week)
HOURS: Day shift. However, position may require evening and weekend hours. Hours may be variable to meet office/patient needs. Location may be variable. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands.

QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Education/Experience
- High School Graduate or equivalency, required.
- Previous Medical Administrative Assistant experience in a Healthcare office, or equivalent, preferred.
- Previous experience working with general public, required.
- Computer skills required.
- Knowledge of computer use in scheduling, billing, and word processing preferred ability to utilize software to produce 98% accurate documents.
- Licensure/Certification
- Certification as Medical Administrative Assistant, or equivalent, required within 3 months of date of hire.

- Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, providers and other support personnel.
- Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested.

ROLE/POSITION DEFINITION:
Schedules and registers patients in computer system; answers telephone promptly and courteously; obtains and verifies patient and guarantor demographic information; obtains and verifies patient's insurance information including co-pays; requests and records patient payments; balances and prepares deposit slip; completes forms as appropriate; receives and answers charge/billing related inquiries. Assist with checking in/outpatients, obtaining and documenting patient information, and prescriptions. Provides clerical, secretarial and receptionist support for the clinic and other diverse duties as requested.
