Oracle Engineering Administrator - MacOS - Linux - Shell/Python in Santa Clara, California

Job Description

This is for a Senior System Engineer role which will be responsible for handling, upgrading and implementing MAC system deployment enhancements for Oracle Database Development. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring all systems' uptime and availability.

The job position involves providing engineering support for the Database organization in Santa Clara, CA. The role aims at focusing on developer productivity by delivering system environments for database development. This includes background in scripting (shell, Python) languages and strong knowledge in Linux, Mac administration

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all the MAC Hardware and administers their installation, reconfiguration and allocation to the users.

  • Mac Mini server administrative

  • Mac OS version 10,12,13,14 in datacenter environment

  • Working with configuring ldapv3 client (for user accounts, homedir and automount), development environment (JDK, gmake, rosetta, perl, etc.)

  • Solve MacOS related issues, path and/or updated MacOS and applications.

  • Able to automate development environment

  • Works with internal Ticketing system to assist with solving issues on servers for customers

  • Upgrade of Server components and install tools as required.

  • Provides domain-specific expertise and overall engineering leadership and perspective to cross- organization projects, programs, and activities

  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the engineering design organization.

  • Follow up on the daily action items

  • Works with development teams to get compute, storage and networking services to facilitate user needs.

  • Fixes any problems that the team may face. Maintains inventory of all the servers and services

  • Willing to learn new technologies and products.

  • Advanced in-depth working knowledge of Linux serveradministration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, fix, backup, recovery, and client support, required. Ten (10) years (prefer fifteen (15) years) experience providing technical support and documentation.

  • A strong in-depth knowledge of cloud services and various virtualization platforms.

  • Design, development and administration of Linux core services.

  • Scripting proficiency on any platforms as needed, and design solutions for new platforms.

  • Advanced software packaging and deployment knowledge.

  • Understanding and ability to address advanced and challenging interoperability issues.

Knowledge Skills

  • Some Experience in cloud, automation and Linux support

  • Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Software systems testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.

  • Must have project management experience

  • Fluent in Shell scripting, remote administration of servers. Perl and Python familiarity.

  • Familiarity with Network Virtualization

  • Familiarity with operating system Linux/Windows, server components like, DHCP, DNS PXE, LDAP, AD etc.

  • Familiar with services like GitHub, Jira, Azure and AWS Cloud.

Qualifications required

  • 6-10 years Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering

  • Proficient in MAC system administration

  • Hardware and Storage Experience required

  • Data Center Support

  • Certifications: MAC certified professional

Responsibilities

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. This includes:

Experience in building and maintain scalable automation to setup ldap, automount, and common development software in macOS

Experience in macOS end user support in a farm environment

Ability to proactively triage and investigate difficult problems independently

US: Hiring Range: from $85,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
