Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Controller, the Interim Accounting Manager will be responsible for supporting the accounting close process; monthly financial reporting; internal control improvements; partnering with operational teams; audit process, handling various Sales tax matters, and other key initiatives and projects for the Company. Essential Duties: • Leverage automation to accelerate existing processes and improve related analyses. • Prepare and detail review complex journal entries or account reconciliations with limited supervision and ensure the accuracy of information through well-documented work papers. Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve any issues or reconciling items. • Identify and clearly explain the drivers behind balance sheet and P&L fluctuations against the forecast, prior periods, and own expectations. • Present monthly reports to management, being the subject matter expert on the area. Communicate accurate, relevant, actionable information to the business and follow through on takeaways. • Prepare monthly company financial statements and supplemental financial reporting for key operational areas. • Support the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting. • Assist in the completion of the annual financial statement audit of the Company’s consolidated results/position. • Handle various Sales tax matters. • Initially oversee 3 team members. Qualifications: Education: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. A Bachelor’s degree in finance is preferred. Experience: 7+ years of related experience preferred, including 3 years at Big 4 and 2+ years in private industry finance or corporate accounting. CPA preferred. E-commerce industry experience preferred. Skills and Job-Specific Competencies: • Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). • Strong finance and business-oriented mindset. • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to be a subject matter expert across multiple areas. • High degree of personal integrity and professional skepticism. • Open to change and committed to continuous process improvement. • Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or other ERP preferred. • Individual must possess prior Sales Tax experience handling various Sales tax matters. • Prior experience using TaxJar is preferred. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, particularly Excel. • Ability to work well in a team environment with a positive demeanor and a customer-centric focus. • Professionalism – a punctual and responsive self-starter, who works well in a fast-paced environment. Travel Requirements: No travel will be required, unless at the discretion of the client. Salary Range: SolomonEdwards values your unique and individual experience and background. As such, we take a comprehensive approach when determining compensation for our roles. The compensation for this specific role is based on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to, education, licensure and certifications, location, experience, and training.
