Our Churn Analytics team is looking for a Manager who will work closely with operational business teams to understand and decompose subscriber churn across a growing ecosystem of our streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+). Our team masters trend analysis, data storytelling, and stakeholder education that serves the dual purpose of driving business decision-making and delivering actionable insights and recommendations. We collaborate cross-functionally across Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology as well as with partners from business units across The Walt Disney Company to generate informative, actionable analyses for what drives churn across DTC services.

This role will build positive relationships and partner closely with Finance, Business Operations, Business Strategy, Analytics, and Data Science teams to execute on innovative methods and outstanding practices that power all of our improvements. The team’s work will drive the development of business and operational plans that are expected to have broad influence at all levels of the organization!

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and set the strategic vision and direction for the Churn Analytics function

  • Lead development and sharing of monthly churn reporting to leadership, exploring global trends and drivers and uncovering opportunities to improve subscriber retention

  • Build and maintain relationships with collaborators and partners across the Direct to Consumer business

  • Support day-to-day business operations through the creation of self-service data tools and ad hoc analyses

  • Drive team development through coaching, mentoring, training, and leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related degree

  • 8+ years of relevant data analytics experience including domain expertise in the areas of subscription businesses and/or retention

  • Consistent track record of building and leading teams of analysts

  • Very skilled at simplifying sophisticated problems, distilling data, and constructing compelling narratives to guide decision making

  • Very comfortable translating highly technical analyses into easily understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong relationship building and communicating with all levels of the organization, from junior analysts to C-suite leaders

  • Expertise working with large, disparate data sets and using SQL for data wrangling and analysis

  • Experience interpreting data trends using a multitude of disparate data sources and tools

  • Fluent in data exploration and visualization tools such as Looker and Tableau

  • Familiarity with advanced analytics methodologies such as anomaly detection, regression analysis, clustering, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, causal inference, and modeling techniques

  • Ability to rapidly grasp new technical systems and processes and partner effectively with highly technical product and engineering teams

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing teams of high-performing analysts

  • Experience in the streaming media industry and/or supporting a direct-to-consumer or subscription-based product

  • Experience in the technology industry and knowledge of how to build and implement data products

  • Familiarity with data platforms and applications such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Airflow

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $136,100 to $182,400, and in New York, NY is $142,600 to $191,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
