Amazon Software Development Engineer Internship in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Description

This is a reduced-time, temporary, non-virtual internship position based in São Paulo, Brazil.

This role is designed exclusively for university bachelor's degree students currently enrolled in Computer Science or related field, and have not yet graduated.

Interns at Amazon Brazil work 6-hour shift per day, totaling 30-hours per week.

As an intern, selected candidate(s) will be matched to a manager and a mentor, and will have the opportunity to have an impact on the evolution of Amazon technology and help with critical business projects early in their careers. Our team of interns' design, code, and raw smarts will contribute to solving complex technical challenges in the areas of distributed systems, data mining, automation, optimization, scalability, and security.

Software Development Engineering internships at Amazon are based on writing software code and collaborating with a team of tenured Software Development Engineers (SDEs) who guide project deliverables that matter to our customers. In addition to working on an impactful projects, interns will have the opportunity to engage with other Amazon employees on both personal and professional growth, expand their network, and participate in activities throughout their internship.

Interns are provided with all proper tools to own their projects and learn in a real-world setting.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor Brazil geographic markets. The base pay for this entry-level, reduced-time, temporary position ranges from BRL R$ 2,000 and BRL R$ 3,000 per month.

Key job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.

  • Collaborate to design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment, and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.

  • Collaborate to create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.

  • Collaborate to build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.

  • Ability to design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.

  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

A day in the life

Selected interns must be available 6 hours per day within a 9:00am to 6:00pm window, from Monday through Friday. Those internship candidates currently located away from Sao Paulo are encouraged to apply, but will be required to relocate to Sao Paulo at their own expense.

Within two (2) business days of successfully submitting your application, you will receive our SDE Internship Technical Coding Online Assessment. Please take time to study/practice in advance and complete within the deadline instructed by the assessment.

IMPORTANT: You will be required to complete two sections 1) Technical Coding with the programming language of your preference, and 2) work-behavioral assessment. Make sure to complete both parts.

  • Per Return to Office (RTO) guidance, selected candidate(s) will be required to work in a hybrid model: at least three days per week from Amazon corporate building in Sao Paulo, Brazil.   • Amazon is a multinational technology company with English as its core business language and your hiring team may be located in different jurisdictions. CVs must be submitted in English in order to be eligible for consideration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a university bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; with a graduation date of 2026 or later.

  • Knowledge of at least one programming language(s): Java, HTML/CSS, Python, SQL, C, C++, etc.

  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, arrays, hash tables and graphs and problem solving.

  • Intermediate/advanced English proficiency B2+ or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Software Development internship experience.
