Our Newtown Estates and Longwood Park are both in need of a Maintenance Trade Worker capable of light to moderately heavy manual labor and regular custodial work. This role ensures the maintenance and minor interior/exterior repairs of buildings and facilities, infrastructure, park grounds, and/or equipment. The ideal candidate can utilize computerized programs and is a quick learner! The pay starts at $17.33/hr (Step 1), benefits begin within 60 days of hire, and there are numerous opportunities for both growth and development. About the Position

This role is responsible for daily general maintenance and upkeep of adjunct facilities, regularly checking the park to ensure both cleanliness and safety. As our Maintenance Trades Worker you will...

  • Maintain Newtown Estates and Longwood Park to include minor repairs (such as fencing, signs, restrooms, etc.), landscaping (weeding, trimming, etc.), installations, painting, plumbing (routine such as unclogging toilets), and/or carpentry.

  • Perform daily checks for playground areas and equipment, parking lots, storage areas, pavilion, and hard-court surfaces; checking the reservation software to plan for maintenance needs.

  • Provide janitorial services for restrooms.

  • Empty the trash and pick up litter inside and outside at the park.

  • Always serve with excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

  • Make temporary repairs, submitting work orders to address issues that cannot be handled on-site.

  • Help install benches, picnic tables, and trash can holders.

  • Paint items such as restrooms and tables, removing any graffiti.

  • Complete minor carpentry work, including measuring boards or plywood (using square, measuring tape, and/or ruler) and marking cutting lines on materials. Then sawing the boards and/or plywood panels to the required sizes.

  • Always keep and maintain an orderly storage area.

  • Operate and maintain all equipment to include the maintenance cart, floor machine, weed whacker, hand tools, blower, timers, and lighting mechanisms.

  • Ensure the facility is secure and work with staff to meet the proper historical and archaeological maintenance needs.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

  • Tuesday - Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Schedules can change based upon operational needs and events.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent and One year of experience in the applicable trade encompassed by the position.

  • Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skill in determining safety concerns.

  • Skill in operating and caring for tools, equipment, and materials required for the role.

  • Ability to make minor repairs to said equipment.

  • Experience in custodial duties without immediate supervision.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Physical Demands: This position may occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. A handling device (dolly, cart, etc.), or the ability to work with another team member, when lifting and/or moving excessive poundage is available and required.
