The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that the facility and all of its production equipment are kept in good working condition.
Minor welding and soldering
Preventative maintenance including all documentation and record keeping
Floor repair and paint
Assist all departments in repairs
Exterior building maintenance
Troubleshoot repair of specialized equipment
Plowing and shoveling of snow
SHE critical PMs (Preventative Maintenance)
Displays and promotes positive safety behaviors at all times; uses proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at the highest safety levels; that all people in the area comply with the safety directives and keep the area neat and clean.
Follows all SHE instructions and procedures to include awareness of and following all DSM Life Saving Rules. Acts in such a way that safety awareness and accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
Ensures that all personal safety, quality and assigned training is up to date and in
Supports and follows the policy of reporting incidents, near misses and improvement possibilities.
Encourages co-workers and management to improve SHE results and incidents.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent mechanical skills, computer skills & problem-solving ability. Must be team player with good communication skills
Position generally requires at least 1-3+ years’ experience knowledge of all production rooms.
Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge and skills to operate a personal computer and computer driven controls systems.
On call 24 hrs. and weekends
Ability to perform the physical requirements of duties in the assigned work area.
Accurate recordkeeping skills.
