JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Schuylkill has an opening for a part-time Case Worker responsible for assisting students make use of University and community services and benefits.This is a 24-hour-per-week position for 30 weeks between the months of mid-August and mid-May when students are on campus.

The Case Worker is responsible for assisting students in meeting their essential needs, including food, housing, financial resources, and access to necessary services. The role focuses on helping students overcome barriers to success by providing support, resources, and referrals related to their basic living needs. This position does not encompass mental or physical health services.

Key Responsibilities: Resource Identification and Referral: Identify and connect students with on-campus and community resources related to food, housing, transportation, childcare, and financial assistance. Maintain an up-to-date database of resources and services available to students, both on and off-campus.

Student Advocacy: Advocate for students' basic needs within the college system to ensure they have access to necessary services and support. Assist students in navigating institutional processes related to financial aid, housing applications, and other basic needs services.

Case Management: Provide individualized support to students experiencing challenges related to basic needs, helping them develop action plans and connect with the appropriate resources. Follow up with students to ensure their needs are being met and adjust support plans as necessary.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other college departments to ensure a holistic approach to student support. Establish partnerships with local community organizations to expand resources available to students.

Data Collection and Reporting: Track and report on the usage and outcomes of basic needs services to identify trends and areas for improvement. Maintain confidential records of student interactions and support provided.

Education and Experience: The position typically requires an associate degree, preferably a bachelor's degree, in Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a related field. Previous experience in case management, social services, or a related area, preferably within an educational setting.

Skills: Strong understanding of issues related to poverty, food insecurity, housing instability, and other challenges affecting students' basic needs. Excellent communication, organizational, and advocacy skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of college students.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid USdriver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be requiredin addition to standard background checks.
