Volt is immediately hiring Lead Equipment & Tool Engineer in Tukwila, WA. As Lead Equipment & Tool Engineer you will: * Develops program and project requirements, develops highly complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions, including alternatives for the Production System. * Validates analysis of technical data, influences product engineering design and makes robotics, automation, or technical recommendations to support production system integration. * Leads the creation and modification of equipment and tooling definition at the program level. * Executes project plans, provides input to Make/Buy decisions and partners with Procurement to meet program schedule, cost, and quality targets. * Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements. * Leads gated reviews and develops plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares. * Validates contractual performance milestones. * Develops and implements workarounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software, and documentation. * Conducts studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets. * Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts technical reviews, and prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares. * Evaluate customer and/or operational needs to define and coordinate mechanical support equipment performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. * Provide engineering expertise during production development activities, developing program and project requirements of highly complex equipment and tooling solutions, including alternatives for the Production System, in the areas of mechanical design, assembly, integration, & test. * Participate in equipment and tool inspections/demonstrations to ensure requirements are met. * Lead Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts and drive results of the RCCA to production. * Aid engineers or technicians with returning equipment to production. * Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel. * Provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. * Creates and implements maintenance workshops with production and maintenance personnel. * Ideal candidate will be a mechanical engineer who has done design work. * This team supports a variety of programs ranging from technology development to initial production, and as such is seeking a highly responsible professional committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity to support and grow our organization through the development and implementation of Best Practices and Standard Work across all business units. * A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. * They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics & production engineers, to directly support the production system by designing Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE). * Being able to identify not only short-term production needs but also anticipate long-term end-of-life equipment & tool requirement is critical to our overall lifecycle strategy. * Use extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish tasks, have the ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to building a positive culture; in addition, be accountable, adaptable, work as an empowered team member, and be a strong communicator. * Strategic decision-making skills, analytical skills, and project management skills are highly desired.
