Location:WA-Seattle Job Title: Reporter/Weekend Anchor - KIRO TV Position Overview KIRO TV Seattleis looking for a dynamic, curious, and engaged Weekend Reporter/Anchor who is interested in breaking stories, making strong ties in the community, and representing the station at public events. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of being a station leader, good newsroom citizen, and enterprising reporter bringing unique content and wanting to be the lead when big news breaks. We are looking for someone who is well-versed in promoting good journalism on social platforms, and celebrating the stories that make your community great. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Anchoring/Reporting Assist in writing, pre-production and broadcast preparation; making certain stories clear/accurate and represent the station's benchmark goals.Helping to copy-edit scripts to avoid on-air errors as the last line of defense. Deliver news copy on camera in a credible and professional manner, as regularly scheduled or needed as defined by management Reporting live on-location in the field or in studio as assigned, visually showcasing a story with active liveshots and standups Responsible for daily pitching of enterprise ideas, researching stories, and setting up and conducting interviews and stories to be part of multi-platform content creation Work to help execute the station's strategies as laid out by leadership Other duties as assigned Digital Platforms Communicate with digital staff on story updates and provide "process scripts." Contribute daily to all station digital platforms and initiatives, including social media Represent the station in a professional manner on all digital platforms including social media Essential Duties and Responsibilities (continued) Contribute to editorial content/planning Attend and participate in editorial meetings, as scheduled Contribute to story ideas in line with station's target audience Attend scheduled meetings with General Manager, News Director, or other departmental managers/employees or company consultants relating to job duties Public appearances/community affairs Professionally represent station at promotions and community affair events Participate in planning of said events Actively represent station through participation with outside charitable causes Minimum Qualifications Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide range of working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects Must be able to follow all station policies Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 3 years of reporting preferred Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Journalism or Communications preferred The salary range for this position is $95,000 per year to $135,000 to per year.
