Job Information

Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer, Cloud SCADA in Seattle, Washington

Description

Help us push the availability and reliability of cloud infrastructure to new heights! The AWS Data Center Systems team builds services to monitor data center infrastructure conditions. Our services directly contribute to the high availability of AWS datacenters and Amazon’s sustainability goals. Teams in Data Center Systems solve problems of large-scale metric ingestion, distributed systems/cloud computing, data visualization, anomaly detection, analytics, and graph networks.

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer who is passionate about creating application software that keeps critical infrastructure running efficiently and securely. You'll have the opportunity to build systems using AWS technologies including Lambda, ECS Fargate, Kinesis, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and more. We don’t expect you to have expertise or even familiarity with all of the technologies listed above, but we do expect you to be excited to learn about them!

In this role, you'll be building global cloud monitoring applications using device telemetry from industrial control systems. In particular, you will own the alarming and data persistence platforms that store device telemetry and alarm on thermal, electrical, and mechanical issues in the data centers. You’ll be applying your creative problem solving skills to develop and run massive scale services. Above all, you will care deeply about the customer and delight in creating simple and elegant solutions that solve our customers’ biggest challenges.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities

  • Deliver results for our team's most complex and ambiguous challenges with optimal trade-offs.

  • Raise the bar for security, quality, and operational excellence in your team.

  • Contribute to the hiring, mentorship and development of your peers within your team and across teams.

  • Think Big! Influence cross-team architectural and project delivery decisions, and contribute to our long term roadmap planning.
