This is career-building opportunity is located in the Seattle, Washington region and offered on a long-term contract / temporary basis. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You'll also be involved in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain monthly payment schedules

• Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

• Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

• Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

• Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

• Partake in annual closing processes

• Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments

• Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management Requirements - Spreadsheet and database capabilities

• Excellent attention to detail

• Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

• Competent with spreadsheets and databases

• Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

• Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

• Knowledgeable of ERP systems

• Bank reconciliations experience highly desired

• Account reconciliation experience

• Foundational knowledge in journal entries

• Knowledge of Daily Cash Receipts

• Fixed Asset Depreciation experience desired

• Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
