As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will perform hands-on assembly and maintenance of cutting edge rocket engine turbomachinery. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of Turbopump assembly, disassembly, testing, and tool/fixture design. You will also provide critical feedback to make improvements with respect to process control, capability, and repeatability. This position is Friday- Sunday and is scheduled for 36 hours, but the employee will receive an 11% weekend shift pay uplift. As such, the position is paid the equivalent of the 40-hour Monday-Friday shift. Additional responsibilities include: Precision assembly of rocket engine turbomachinery Detailed component inspection using calipers, micrometers, etc. to tolerances of 0.0001" Calculating dimensional stack-ups to control proper assembly of components Precision rotor balancing Coordinating hardware processing such as inspection, cleaning, and shipping Hardware management under stringent cleanliness requirements (liquid oxygen service) Safely working with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure Assist engineers in reviewing design concepts, providing feedback for improvements Familiarity working with assembly fixture tooling Review and follow work instructions for complex mechanical installations Innovate to improve processes and increase efficiency of operations We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Qualifications: Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space! 5+ years of experience with assembly of turbomachinery/propulsion systems, aircraft or automotive engines, or other highly technical machinery Ability to interpret engineering drawings Ability to read and understand technical manuals/detailed work instructions Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools Ability to accurately use precision measurement and inspection tools Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills Be able to support our weekend shift: Friday - Sunday 5am - 5:30pm Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Physical Requirements: Climb ladders and stairsLift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations Desired: 10+ years' experience in propulsion assembly, integration, and testing Associates degree in a technical field Knowledge of precision inspection equipment, including bore scopes maintenance and their use Experience with critical sealing surface requirements Experience with thread insert installation and thread tapping tools A&P license or equivalent experience in integration and test of propulsion systems Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts on flight hardware Experience with 3D measurement tools, such as Faro Arms/Trackers and Verisurf software Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools (CREO is preferred), and ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard Compensation range for onsite WA applicants is: $29.03-$40.65 Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
