Program Summary

KBR will help sustain the well-being of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain, as well as Incirlik Air Base, Izmir Air Station, Office of Defense Cooperation –Turkey and the Ankara Support Facility also in Turkey. The company will keep these bases and facilities operating smoothly so deployed Air Force and government personnel can execute their missions without distraction.

KBR’s work will include program management; civil engineering; morale, welfare and recreation support; postal operations; and safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene and ambulance services. It will also provide logistics support, such as vehicle management, fuel operations and air terminal services. KBR received this contract – which has a five-year base period and three one-year options—from the Air Force Installation Contracting Center.

Job Summary

The primary duties of this position are to clean and sweep pavement surfaces, mow airfield and safety areas, perform weed control activities, and maintain airbase grounds including landscaped areas, lawns, and irrigation systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the Heavy Equipment Operations Foreman, and or assigned applicable work leader.

  • Ensures all tasks assigned are carried out in a satisfactory manner in accordance to established standards.

  • Uses vacuum sweeper to remove FOD/debris from airfield pavements, roadways, and parking lots.

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections, changes gutter brooms, and makes necessary adjustments to sweeper components to ensure proper operation.

  • Communicates with Control Tower by radio to gain authorization to enter and exit the airfield.

  • Performs gardening and grounds keeping requirements to include but not limited to mow airfield grass in the area assigned.

  • Ensures that daily preventive maintenance and safety checks are performed on all equipment/power tools and hand tools prior to and during use.

  • Performs manual labor assignments such as the manual excavation of trenches.

  • Performs safe work practices, safe operation of street sweepers and heavy equipment and vehicles.

  • Work may be strenuous and may involve working outdoors during inclement weather.

  • Complies with applicable Royal Decree, OSHA and AFOSH safety regulations.

  • Must be knowledgeable of Spanish and USAF safety policies.

  • Adheres to all pertinent USAF / KBR policies, plans and directives.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned including supporting other departments or special projects.

  • Seeks to improve service to the customer at reduced cost. Makes suggestions related to use of improved procedures, methods, technology, tools and equipment, and human resources to achieve improved productivity, quality, and cost performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum education level of high school completion or equivalent.

  • Shall possess a Spanish Class ‘C’ driver’s license.

  • Must have ability to communicate in native language.

  • Must have English Reading Level I, Written Level I, Verbal Level I.

  • Must have at least six (6) months of trade-related work experience. This does not include similar combination of education and experience.

  • The physical requirements of the position include light lifting of up to 30 kilograms, and for heavy lifting of items up to 50 kilograms, proper handling equipment is utilized. Moderate exposure to skill includes dust, wide temperature range, noise, vibrations, fumes, harsh chemicals, odors, pollens and grasses, grease, machinery and moving parts, sitting and driving for long periods, bending, stooping, on knees, both indoors and outdoors, and inclement weather, with occasional exposure to hazardous work conditions.

  • Employee will be required to wear issued personnel protective equipment (i.e., steel-toed shoes, work gloves, eye protection, etc.) and any other items required to perform assigned duties.
