Meta DFX Manufacturing Engineer in Shanghai, China

Summary:

The Reality Lab in Meta is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. We are a team of world-class experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. In this role, you will be responsible for manufacturing design and development to solve complex problems that directly impact final product quality, cost and delivery of Meta AR/VR products. You will define and implement manufacturing process best practices to the design of our products. You will be a key member of the Technical Operations team and will partner closely with Hardware Engineering, SIE, Quality, Test Engineering and our Manufacturing partners providing early and on-going manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are manufacture-able from concept to mass production and through end of life.

Required Skills:

DFX Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with Hardware Engineers to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges by following best DFx practices and principles.

  2. Develop and optimize manufacturing processes (assembly and packing) at CM factories to ensure that RL devices can be scaled into cost-effective and high-quality products.

  3. Work closely with Contact Manufacturers and Equipment/Fixtures suppliers to design and qualify assembly fixtures and automation systems to enhance product quality and production efficiency.

  4. Collaborate with cross functional teams, making sure automations and fixtures developments are within the overall project schedule and cost budget.

  5. Constantly monitoring the cutting edge of manufacturing technologies and processes and implementing them to our RL devices as required.

  6. Capture all build issues during engineering build, work out corrective action with cross functional teams. Work closely with the PCE/CMM/Capex/PDE team on cost reduction.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Full-time BSME or equivalent (MSME, MSIE desired)

  2. Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and English.

  3. At least 5+ years in engineering role with experience in assembly process, Automation development or Product design.

  4. Experience in advanced analysis & problem-solving techniques including DOE, failure analysis, CpK, GR&R, PFMEA etc.

  5. Proficient in the use of 3D mechanical design tools. Such as Pro-E, NX or Catia etc.

  6. Working knowledge of GD&T, data analysis using JMP a plus.

  7. Moderate travel within Mainland China with some travel to Asia Pacific region and US

  1. Experience in realizing consumer electronics products in mass production which involves precision mechanical parts assembly and high cosmetic requirements.

  2. Experience in production line development techniques including assembly process flow, SOP, etc.

  3. Able to understand and challenge tolerance stack ups for assemblies to meet gap/step requirements.

  4. Experience in complex automation development, including automation layout, cycle time, and motions system qualification.
