NPI Staff Engineer - SKE

BASIC FUNCTIONS

Responsible for the project management of the New Product Integration for SKE operations to ensure success of New Product Development. Leads SKE operations cross-functions through the Kitchen & Bath Development Process (KBDP) phases of D0, D1, and D2 providing smooth transition to new product realization in D3 and D4 phases. Works closely with process engineering, quality, supply chain, and plant engineering for project planning, product/project cost estimates, control plans, and production plans of all new products. Acts as liaison between the NPD community and SKE operations to ensure new product designs are clearly communicated and meet SKE standards for high manufacturability. This position requires a high level of technical skill in the areas of manufacturing engineering, project management, problem solving, and product testing.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates or leads cross functional teams for New Product Development (NPD) and Advanced Development (AD).

Leads Design for Manufacturability and Assembly of new project designs through KBDP phases D0, D1, and D2.

Drives time to market improvements. Ensure quality and performance levels are met for new product launches (i.e., launch with no deviations and match process capability to specifications).

Determines the manufacturing feasibility of product designs and product improvement concepts.Prepares and defends ideas to Senior Management.

Completes Standard Work analysis on all new and existing products and processes to ensure that they labor content is being optimized throughout the organization.

Prepares detailed project plans including technical objectives and approaches, schedule plans, project cost estimates (Capital Tooling, Expense, and Labor), and product cost estimates.

Participates or leads cross functional teams tasked with competitor product tear-down and evaluation for material usage and cost-out opportunities.

Directs and coordinates work by manufacturing engineers, technicians, support personnel, and outside groups involving design, development, prototype construction, and evaluation of product concepts.Works closely with manufacturing to assure smooth transition to SKE manufacturing.

Maintains project Risk Register for all new product development projects.

Leads PFMEA process to establish effective Control Plans and Work Instructions.

Directly supports Purchasing to create Procurement Strategy and Plan for Every Part.

Counsel and train engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required.

Maintains project records and prepares technical, cost, and other reports to show project progress as required.

Contributes sound professional advice and creative ideas, concepts, and approaches to new product design and development projects.

Keeps abreast of new materials, technologies, and products relative to the Plastics/Acrylics manufacturing industry.

Skills/Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field required, preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial engineering. 7+ years of work experience minimum preferred in manufacturing and/or new product integration in Electronics and Plastics Industry. Will consider higher level engineering position for more qualified candidates. Must be bilingual in Mandarin and English.
