General Motors Senior Communications Manager - Premium Import in Shanghai, China

Job Description

Primary responsibility as The Durant Guild Communications Senior Manager is to curate and implement communication strategy for the new import business and its products, to achieve public awareness and positive public sentiment:

  • Develop and implement communication strategy for The Durant Guild as GM’s major growth area in China, and the products coming across the brands (Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC)

  • Create cadenced storytelling opportunities to amplify awareness and positive impression of The Durant Guild and the products

  • Build and manage media and KOL relations across the social channels

  • Crisis communication

  • Executive communication

  • Develop methodology to track the influence of communication for the new business, which is the first of its kind across the markets

  • Managing budget within function and with collaboration with related functions to achieve synergy

Additional Job Description

  • Knowledge:

Knowledge of communication across corporate and products

Deep understanding of media and social media landscape

Established media and KOL relationship

Knowledge of products across the brands, including Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC

Understanding of the automotive industry and overall business environment in China for broader storytelling opportunities

  • Skills:

Strategic thinking

Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with external audience and internal stakeholders across the functions, regions and cultures

Result-driven

Innovative and willing to enable new ideas and changes

Proven desire and ability to manage/coach performance of direct reports

Ability to learn on the fly continuously

Fluent English speaking/writing skills for global collaboration

  • Experience:

Corporate Communication, Media Relations, Executive Communication, Social Impact, Internal Communication

  • Education:

Master Degree of Communication, Journalism, Automotive or other related areas

  • Competencies:
