Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practice's locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates.

Summary:Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair. Minor maintenance, repairs and other duties are the primary duties. Assists the Engineering Department with plumbing, electrical and HVAC maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Engineering Department.

  2. Assists in maintaining HVAC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas.

  3. Performs urgent corrective, routine, and requisitioned repairs of minor problems with the electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required. Notifies director or supervisor if major repairs are required.

  4. Performs maintenance on equipment and systems as required.

  5. Performs maintenance duties to all physical structures of facility and complies with all building safety codes. This is to include facility equipment and associated controls.

  6. Assists in replacing, repairing, and testing electrical circuits, equipment, appliances and lighting systems as required.

  7. Maintains routine records of all inspections, maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.

  8. Performs manual duties as requested (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material).

  9. Performs minor adjustments and improvements on machinery, equipment, hospital property in such trades as painting, wallpapering, plastering, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical.

  10. Ability to do work on his/her own with only normal supervision.

  11. A working knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems.

  12. A thorough knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment.

  13. Completes all documentation needed to establish trends, patterns of labor, parts, repeated breakdowns, cost, and utility usage in accordance with established department policies and procedures.

  14. Performs surveillance rounds as required and in accordance with established department policies and procedures.

  15. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.

  16. Provides a visible deterrence to prohibited activities by patrolling departments and buildings.

  17. Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients.

  18. Knowledge and observance of safety precautions.

  19. Patrols buildings and grounds; inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.

  20. Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.

  21. Escorts visitors, patients, and employees to and from parking areas as requested.

  22. Assists motorists who become stranded on hospital property.

  23. Serves as a member of the fire control team and responds to code RED.

  24. Writes accurate, clear, and legible incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.

  25. Drives hospital vehicles to make deliveries, purchases and pickups as needed and requested.

  26. Reports all safety and fire hazards observed during routine rounds.

  27. Follows all regulatory and hospital policies regarding adherence to patient confidentiality and privacy.

  28. Uses the principles of AIDET in every customer encounter.

  29. Performs other duties as directed.

Requirements:

· High School graduate or equivalent.

· Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets organizational guidelines.
