JOB SUMMARY

  • Participates in planning, development, implementation of processes and staffing for SMH Behavioral Health Unit.

  • Supports the Behavioral Health team in evaluation of effective operations, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere in clinic setting.

  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal department teams and community partners.

  • Promotes and advances hospital-community relationships and participates in community affairs.

  • Demonstrates effective communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership skills.

  • Participates in the development, implementation, review, and revision of departmental policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for staff onboarding and training.

  • Coordinates behavioral health related in-service trainings.

  • Provides staff coaching and feedback.

  • Assist in investigation and resolution of safety concerns and patient/family grievances.

  • Attends and effectively participates in leadership meetings, designated committees, process improvement teams and daily huddles.

  • Assists with meeting regulatory requirements such as environment of care readiness.

  • Addresses daily workflow and safety issues affecting staff and patients.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related or business field, preferred.

  • Licensure or ability to obtain licensure when background credentials warrant that such is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferred.

  • Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, statutes, policies and procedures, and ability to determine the appropriateness of compliance in situations.

Additional Skills

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Proficient in the use of Lean management practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient use of English language.

  • Exercises a high degree of initiative, judgment, and discretion.

  • Demonstrates solid abilities to analyze situations accurately and take effective action.

  • Proficient in organizing work, delegating and achieving goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrates high level of judgment and discretion in developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures.

  • Works effectively with physicians, other medical staff, and external agencies.

  • Demonstrates excellent customer relations skills.

Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
