The Associate Business Analyst role is an entry level position and is required to work with internal and external clients to determine requirements and to define solutions to address business, process and systems problems, and improvements in the organisation. They act as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organisation, and to recommend solutions that enable the organisation to achieve its goals. They take guidance from more senior Business Analyst(s) within the team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Agile development team by providing vision and direction under guidance.

  • Help ensure the team has prepared tasks to work on.

  • Assist in planning and prioritizing the product feature backlog.

  • Understand and help articulate the product vision and roadmap to the development team.

  • Aid in prioritizing backlog items based on value, time, and dependencies.

  • Support backlog management, iteration planning, and user story elaboration.

  • Collaborate with Product Management to help create and maintain a product backlogs.

  • Assist in planning product releases and setting expectations for new functionality.

  • Help mitigate impediments impacting successful team completion of goals.

  • Assist in establishing story acceptance criteria and accepting stories as done.

  • Conduct research and analyze market trends and user feedback.

  • Stay updated with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends.

Knowledge, Skills, Attributes:

  • Basic understanding of the technologies and products used by the team.

  • Awareness of product development in the IT industry.

  • Familiarity with Agile practices and methodologies.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

  • Understanding of iterative development and product/software development processes.

  • Knowledge of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and task definition.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager Certification (preferred).

  • Other Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, SAFe for Teams) are advantageous.

  • Other technical certifications relevant to software development advantageous.

Required Experience:

  • Relevant internship or project experience in product development or Agile methodologies.

  • Exposure to Agile approaches such as XP, Kanban, or similar.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
