Bluepeak Maintenance Supervisor in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Overview of the Position Responsibilities : The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team of Maintenance Technicians to maintain, service and repair Bluepeak’s telecommunication network and components. If this sounds exciting, please read on.

What You Will Do:

  • Supervises trouble-shoot and repair demark and mainline HFC / fiber problems with maintenance technicians to ensure compliance with company guidelines regarding quality, safety, and adherence to company designs.

  • Demonstrates mastery of all required test equipment and engineering cut sheets; TDRs, OTDRs, fiber splicers, SLM, leakage detectors, sweep receivers, fiber assignments and cut sheets.

  • Maintain, configure, and manage CATV headend equipment.

  • Supervises HFC / fiber plant restoration including main line splicing, aerial and underground HFC / fiber plant, and all associated plant LCP/OLT cabinets.

  • Works with technician supervisor to ensure coverage is at a maximum during peak hours to maintain prompt service; coordinates with technician supervisor to set priorities for plant routine maintenance and repairs.

  • Assists in the training and development of maintenance technicians and keeps abreast of the most current technology in the telecommunications industry.

  • Assists in developing, recommending, and administering technical operations policies and procedures and maintains regular plant quality audits for compliance.

  • Assist in identifying and reporting all incidents of noncompliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA) and Bluepeak standards.

  • Coordinates with corporate trainers to help establish company training guidelines for maintenance technicians.

  • Communicates effectively with customers, management, employees, and maintenance service partners (contractors).

  • Assists in the development and management of operations emergency repair budget in accordance with corporate guidelines.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • All other related duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:

  • Highschool or GED is required.

  • Basic knowledge of electronics and working knowledge of the operation are required.

  • Knowledge of DOCSIS standards and protocols.

  • 2+years of experience and related Associate’s degree (or equivalent in training and experience) is preferred.

  • Attended an accredited vocational lineman’s course.

  • MS Office Suite: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote.

  • Ability to use assigned test equipment including but not limited to signal level meter (SLM), leakage detector, volt ohm meter, sweep receiver, underground locater, OTDR, and fusion splicers.

  • Ability to accurately maintain records, logs, reports, work orders, etc.

  • Proven experience with building and developing teams, measuring performance, and driving employee engagement.

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

  • Adept at identifying potential project roadblocks and developing mitigation strategies.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Effective time management with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism in changing and/or challenging situations.

  • Ability to work flexible hours as required including evenings, weekends and on-call shifts.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass an MVR.

  • Ability to work while standing most of the time.

  • Ability to walk or work over all types of terrain, in all types of weather.

  • Ability to carry tools and equipment including gaffs, ladders, tool belts.

  • Ability to work in tight spaces while bending, twisting and reaching.

  • Ability to climb poles using gaffs hooks and climbing belts.

  • Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder (approx. 28’ & 75lbs).

  • Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires.

  • Ability to perform work in elevated places (i.e., roofs and utility poles).

  • Ability to use drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers and other hand tools.

  • Ability to work with small components.

  • Ability to use close vision, peripheral vision and adjust focus.

  • Ability to work in poorly vented areas such as attics, in extreme temperatures.

  • Ability to move, crawl, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, push, and grasp.

  • Ability to lift up to 90 pounds.

  • Physically able to operate computer equipment and test equipment.

  • Ability to work in environments that may have dust, dirt, noise, insects and cleaning solutions.

  • Ability to work safely near power lines and electrical equipment.

  • Ability to drive Company vehicles in a safe manner.

  • Must be able to meet the physical limit requirements of personal protective equipment, aerial lift equipment, ladders and/or gaffs that may be used in this position.
