About you and this role- What you will do in this role

TheDow Companyhas an exciting job opportunity asPipelineTechnicianlocated in South Charleston, WV. The Pipeline technician will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of pipelines, including regulated pipelines covered under DOT 192 and 195. The person in this position is expected to understand and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including such items as integrity management, operator qualification (OQ), drug and alcohol programs, corrosion prevention, etc. The pipeline technician will be required to use various electronic tools, interface with landowners, walk long distances on uneven terrain and perform a wide variety of other topics pertaining to the operation of cross-country pipelines.

Responsibilities- Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

  • Developing/owning operating and maintenance procedures associated with regulatory compliance with DOT 192 or 195 , including the execution of the associated management of change requirements for procedural changes/updates.

  • Managing all records to ensure documentation is in place to comply with DOT requirementsCoordinating and scheduling pipeline maintenance activities

  • Interfacing with the private landowners, public officials, and vendor plant contacts.

  • Safe Work Permit focal point for team

  • Participate and prepare for compliance and regulatory audits

  • Attended and participate in team meetings, safety meetings, and EH&S program.

  • Complete required training (job procedures, training modules).

  • General computer skills including ability to read/send e-mails, review and acknowledge Management of Change's, develop procedures, complete expense reports, access pipeline data, etc.

  • Focal point for certain aspects of the regulatory program (Operator Qualification, Corrosion prevention, etc.)

  • Participate in a rotating On Call program is a requirement. Expect daily travel requirements normally within area of responsibility (including weekends and holidays).

  • Monitor the cathodic protection systems to ensure performance is meeting regulatory requirements.

  • Operation of off-road vehicles (including pipeline ATV and pipeline fleet vehicle).

Qualifications- Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

  • 2 or more years of experience in maintenance, process operations, and production environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills -An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential

  • Regulatory experience and training within DOT 195 or 192 is highly preferred.

  • Prior experience in a chemical or petrochemical environment.

  • Prior pipeline experience.

  • Cathodic protection certifications (NACE).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills are required.

  • Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.

  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.

  • Must be willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

  • Must be willing and able to use respirators.

  • Must be willing and able to work in such environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.

  • Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
