Job Summary

NOTE: THIS POSTING WILL BE USED TO FILL APPROXIMATELY 25 EXTRA HELP (NO BENEFITS) VACANCIES FOR THE 2024 SEASON. APPLICANTS NEED ONLY APPLY ONCE TO BE CONSIDERED.

Park Worker 1: Performs limited skill maintenance tasks and duties related to Parks, Recreation and Golf Department operations under general supervision of qualified staff.

Park Worker 2: Performs all tasks required of Park Worker 1 as well as semi-skilled maintenance tasks. Work is performed under general supervision, but more independently and with greater skill than a Park Worker 1.

Park Worker 3: Performs all tasks required of Park Worker 1 and 2 as well as tasks requiring considerable skill. Work is performed under limited supervision; incumbents may train and function in a lead/supervisory capacity over lower-level employees.

Park Worker 4: Performs all tasks required of Park Worker 1, 2 and 3. Expected to be proficient in maintenance tasks requiring considerable skill. Incumbents are expected to train and function in a lead/ supervisory capacity for lower-level employees. Work is performed independently, under minimal supervision.

Examples of Duties

Park Worker 1: Performs limited skill maintenance tasks including but not limited to janitorial services, refuse collection throughout the property, mowing turf, and pruning shrubs. May be required to drive county owned vehicles as part of job duties.

Park Worker 2: In addition to the tasks outlined for Park Worker 1, performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks which may include working with hand-held tools, operating small/light duty power equipment (e.g. small riding lawn mower), towing small equipment with a work truck, etc.

Park Worker 3: In addition to the tasks outlined for Park Worker 1 and 2, performs tasks requiring considerable skill which may include conducting more complex special projects and performing a variety of skilled trades and maintenance tasks. Work includes the use of small power equipment, the operation of medium duty equipment (e.g. trucks up to 25,000 GVW, compact pickups) and riding equipment. Diagnoses and conducts minor repairs to power and hand tools. May assign, direct and coordinate the work of others.

Park Worker 4: In addition to the tasks outlined for Park Worker 1, 2 and 3, performs skilled construction, maintenance and equipment operation tasks. May plan, schedule and coordinate project or facility maintenance assignments; assigns, directs and coordinates the work of others.

Minimum Requirements

Park Worker 1: Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates knowledge and abilities for the assignment.

Park Worker 2: Three (3) month combination of training and/or experience which demonstrates knowledge and abilities for the assignment. Experience in a parks or outdoor work environment is preferred.

Park Worker 3: Six (6) month combination of training and/or experience which demonstrates knowledge and abilities for the assignment. Experience in a parks or outdoor work environment is preferred. Prior lead/supervisory experience may be required for those positions which have this responsibility.

Park Worker 4: One (1) year combination of training and/or experience which demonstrates knowledge and abilities for the assignment. Experience in a parks or outdoor work environment is preferred. Prior lead/supervisory experience may be required for those positions which have this responsibility.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS

  • BACKGROUND CHECK: All positions require successful passing of a criminal background check.

  • DRIVER’S LICENSE: All positions require a valid driver’s license.
