And what will you do?

Summary:

The Quality Manager is on the leadership team of the plant and is responsible for ensuring that the output of the Springdale Frame Plant adheres to industry standards and customer expectations. They will create, maintain, and update the frame plant specifications and forms, lead efforts to attain and maintain industry certifications, and lead a team of quality technicians reviewing the work across functions in the plant, our material suppliers, and other related functions to maintain high standards of excellence.

Core Functions:

  • Write, maintain, and update the Central States Springdale Plant Quality Manual to industry standards.

  • Supervise a team of internal quality technicians and external quality vendors, including Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI).

  • Maintain the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) or Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) for weld inspections.

  • Inspect human and machine produced welds and overall production to the published standards, ensuring that data is collected throughout the fabrication process to support internal and external audits. This would include measuring dimensions, joint strength, conformance with work-order specifications, and identifying defects utilizing visual inspection techniques and measurement technologies.

  • Ensure safety codes are followed and champion Safety 24x7 throughout organization.

  • Pursue and maintain factory certifications including International Accreditation Service (IAS), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Welding Society Certification (AWS), and Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA).

  • Examine vendor material quality defects and work with vendors to determine root cause and corrective actions. Track and maintain documentation on results.

  • Apply advanced problem-solving techniques to drive quality and improve workmanship and material quality of the primary frames and structural steel products, as well as related accessories.

  • Lead corrective action projects.

  • Support internal and external warranty claims with the Quality organization. Complete documentation and report on findings.

  • Investigate, process and assure compensation for supplier or equipment vendor related claims.

  • Assists providers and clients with problems or questions regarding quality in the plant.

  • Provide information or testimony for legal disputes.

  • Compiles and prepares statistical data and reports to recognize trends for improvement. Supports the Plant Manager in maintaining efficiency and effectiveness targets.

  • Minimize financial losses, without sacrificing the Central States values and mission.

  • Comply with policy and company procedures.

  • Perform internal audits

  • Maintain personal certifications and credentials as defined by credentialing bodies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 years’ experience in quality management

  • 3 years’ experience managing people, including recruiting, development, and performance management

  • 2 years’ experience in a plant environment

  • 1 year experience in steel metal buildings

  • Certified Welder as defined and administered by the American Welding Society

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI) as defined by the American Welding Society

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including data analysis in Excel.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of metals and/or metals paint systems

  • Factory certification and audit experience

  • Proficient in Power BI

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Work is performed in a factory environment and office environment. Factory is unheated and unairconditioned. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires visual acuity to inspect parts and identify failures. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies as well as communicate verbally and electronically. The work will require the periodic operation of factory machinery and equipment. The work is active and requires extensive reading and ability to understand, take, and give verbal and written instruction. While performing the core function of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and stand.

Limited travel to suppliers, partners, or customer locations, less than 10%.
