General Purpose:

Ensure that all equipment is operating effectively and efficiently, including preventative maintenance, overhauls, modification, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Assist maintenance management and provide training, work direction, and guidance as needed to ensure all work performed meets department and plant expectations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment in compliance with all safety procedures

  • Support the installation of new equipment, support and implementation of preventive maintenance program

  • Assist the machine operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime

  • Ensure all repairs are documented

  • Keep management informed of any maintenance issues

  • Complete work orders as assigned

  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

  • Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  • 4 years of maintenance work experience in industrial setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically SAP

  • Knowledge of machine shop equipment

  • Knowledge of pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders

  • Skill in proficient computer usage

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork

  • Able to follow directions and meet deadlines

  • Able to perform all required preventative, productive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance procedures

  • Able to perform task and duties without constant supervision

  • Able to understand the basic types of controls used in the plant and how they affect the process

  • Able to perform minor electrical work (i.e., change pump motors and diagnose motor control problems)

  • Able to use standard maintenance tools

  • Able to perform routine repairs and minor projects from planning to installation

  • Able to perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records

  • Able to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (mig/tig/stick)

  • Able to follow process control computer variables, schematics, and diagnose system problems

  • Able to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner

  • Initiative – shows willingness and aptitude to use own discretion in taking appropriate steps in finding solutions to problems; presents options and ideas to enhance current processes or procedures. Takes on additional responsibility when both big and small tasks need to be done.
