Procurement Category Lead - Packaging

A major manufacturer is in search for a Procurement Category Lead in St. Louis, MO to oversee their Packaging division.

Job Title: Procurement Category Lead

Location: Hybrid - St. Louis, MO

Pay: $90,000 - $110,000 + annual bonus

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Sourcing & Cost Savings:

• Collaborate with the procurement team to develop and execute sourcing strategies to reduce procurement costs.

• Lead negotiations with suppliers using various bid technologies

• Manage the post-bid process, ensuring adherence to internal approval processes and legal requirements.

• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through extended payment terms, supplier inventory programs, and analysis of economic order quantities.

• Supplier Management:

• Lead the identification, evaluation, and approval of new and alternate suppliers.

• Conduct regular market analysis and benchmark data to support informed sourcing decisions.

• Manage supplier relationships, including contract negotiation, monitoring performance, and addressing any non-conformance issues.

• Analyze and mitigate potential supplier ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) risks.

• Reporting & Documentation:

• Develop, maintain, and contribute to various procurement reports and dashboards.

• Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure procurement effectiveness.

• Ensure accurate and up-to-date procurement documentation within the document library.

• Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist with plant buyer requests and expedite supplier purchase orders.

• Support regional and global procurement initiatives.

• Collaborate with the logistics team to analyze and optimize inbound freight costs.

• Facilitate communication and implement marketing-related artwork changes with suppliers.

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly reforecasts.

• Maintain accurate vendor price records and contracts within the ERP system.

• Support quality assurance with initial and ongoing supplier approvals.

• Coordinate plant trials and ensure proper documentation.

• Provide timely data and support to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in manufacturing - packaging preferred

• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.

• Experience with category management and Infor/LX a plus.
