106 Group Ltd Archaeological Crew Leader in St Paul, Minnesota

Position 106 Group is seeking to fill archaeological field crew leader positions for the 2024 field season. This position involves leading field crews in the execution Phase I pedestrian surveys, shovel testing, Phase II evaluation, Phase III data recovery, and construction monitoring for projects throughout the Midwest. Opportunities are expected to continue throughout the remainder of the season dependent on performance. Travel and fieldwork are requirements of this position. Salary Salary range is $23.50-38.50 per hour, dependent upon experience. In addition to lodging, archaeologists will receive a daily per diem matching the current Federal GSA rates (minimally $59 for projects outside of the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area.) Responsibilities The Crew Leader is responsible for all aspects of archaeological field work on a project. While some project tasks can be delegated in consultation with the Field Director, the Crew Leader bears full responsibility for the quality and timely completion of the following tasks: Lead teams of Archaeological Field Technicians in conducting pedestrian reconnaissance, shovel testing, unit excavation, and construction monitoring in consultation with and at the direction of the Field Director and Principal Investigator. Interpret landscape characteristics, project specifics, and cultural resources regulations in applying archaeological field methods, including but not limited to: appropriate level of survey effort, testing interval, and degree of disturbance. Manage project area access and on-site landowner and stakeholder interactions. Record and submit to the office on a daily basis all necessary field data including GPS data, field forms, field photographs, artifacts, and field reports. Administer project personnel needs including record of work, accident and near-miss reports, and all project expenses. Maintain health and safety standards in accordance with company and project policies. Maintain project pace while balancing workload with crew abilities and stamina. Maintain open and frequent communication with Field Director, Field Coordinator, and Principal Investigator.
