The Minnesota State Arts Board is seeking a communications specialist to support and advance the agency’s communication goals by developing, creating, and publishing content online and in print. This position helps develop and manage an editorial calendar to ensure that all Web and social media content is relevant and timely, and aligned with agency priorities, strategies, and tactics. In addition, this position will assemble, update, or edit grant program application materials, agency reports, and create promotional materials. This position will help promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the public value of the arts.

Minimum Qualifications

· Two (2) years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations demonstrating the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of or experience inwith communication and marketing principles.Basic knowledge of or experience inwith communication and marketing principles.Basic knowledge of or experience inwith communication and marketing principles.Basic knowledge of or experience in communication and marketing principals.

  • Experience or writing skills sufficient to produce communications for internal and external audiences.

  • Ability or experience designing and developing documents, publications, and website materials using InDesign and other Adobe Creative Cloud software or graphic design media.

  • Human relations, organizational, communications, and team building skills sufficient to work with variety of stakeholders.

A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations.

  • Experience making Web, online, and print content accessible (i.e., meeting, or exceeding ADA standards).
