The Infectious Disease Equity and Engagement Unit within the Cross Cutting, Epidemiology, Programs and Partnerships (CCEPP) Section is looking to add a part-time student worker position to their team! This position exists to support Shelter Health Assessment, which is a new initiative to better understand infectious disease prevention and general health capacity and priorities for homeless shelters in Minnesota.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Assist senior project staff with community engagement, survey design and programming
Data collection and analysis
Assist in other MDH work related to improving communications and collaboration with diverse communities, including people experiencing homelessness, corrections-involved populations, American Indians, immigrants and new arrivals
This position is part-time and can work up 20 hours per week. The specific hours and days of work are flexible within 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. This position is anticipated to last through June 10, 2026, or until the selected candidate completes their education program, whichever occurs sooner.
Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications must be clearly demonstrated on the applicant's resume/application to be considered for this position:
- Completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education
Student Worker Eligibility: To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional Senior you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with survey development, programming, and quantitative analysis
Attention to detail and good organizational skills
Completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education in public health, public policy, social work, health informatics or another closely related field of study
Any professional or personal experience with homelessness
Additional Requirements
Successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand some travel, which the candidate is responsible for meeting.
