Main purpose of job:

The Stock Keeper oversees the management of engineering and maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment essential for the smooth functioning of the organization's engineering and maintenance operations while playing a critical role in ensuring that the organization's engineering and maintenance operations have reliable access to the essential supplies, tools, and equipment needed to support their activities. This includes optimizing inventory management processes, maintaining cost-effective sourcing and procurement strategies, and upholding regulatory compliance while promoting efficiency and safety within the engineering store environment.

The Stock Keeper will maintain the records of the comprehensive calibration program including vendor schedules, internal procedures, and documentation, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and industry standards.

Main responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: One of the primary responsibilities of an Engineering Store Manager in the pharmaceutical industry is to oversee the inventory of engineering and maintenance supplies. This includes maintaining optimal stock levels to ensure that essential items are always available, while also avoiding overstocking to minimize carrying costs.

  • Procurement and Sourcing: The Engineering Store Manager is often responsible for sourcing and procuring engineering and maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. This involves identifying reliable suppliers and ensuring that the necessary items are obtained at competitive prices without compromising quality.

  • Location Management: Overseeing the organization and storage of engineering and maintenance supplies in or storage facilities. This involves maintaining a well-organized and efficient layout to facilitate easy access to required items while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

  • Inventory Control Systems: Implementing and managing inventory control systems to track stock levels, monitor usage, and analyze inventory turnover rates.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all stored supplies and materials comply with relevant regulations, particularly those related to pharmaceutical manufacturing, in terms of quality, safety, and traceability.

  • Maintenance Planning Support: Collaborating with the maintenance and engineering teams to understand their requirements for supplies and equipment, and ensuring that the necessary items are available to support planned maintenance activities and unexpected repairs.

  • Health and Safety: Ensuring that all aspects of the engineering store operations comply with health and safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the department.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements in the management of engineering supplies, tools, and equipment in alignment with industry best practices and evolving technologies.

  • Supervise the contractor calibration technicians responsible for executing calibration activities to ensure accurate and timely calibration services.

  • Coordinate with equipment owners and production teams to schedule and perform calibrations, minimizing impact on production and ensuring compliance with calibration deadlines.

  • Participate in internal and external audits related to the calibration program ensuring all calibration documentation is filed , up to date and available for review at all times.
