A unit within VPUE, theCenter for Teaching and Learning (CTL)works to increase the integration of inclusive, evidence-based, and innovative teaching and learning practices in Stanford courses and curricula. CTL has a leading voice on campus for issues related to teaching and learning and contributes to educational strategy, practice, inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and belonging through a wide variety of partnerships and initiatives. CTL staff and affiliates hold the following values central and strive to enact them throughout our work, whether administrative, programmatic, or service-oriented: drawing on evidence to inform our work, practicing equity and inclusion, centering participants and their diverse experiences, stewarding resources responsibly, and learning continuously.
CTL seeks a Pedagogy and Programming Specialist for a two-year appointment focused on launching and developing a new curricular institute for a new campus initiative - Leveling the Learning Landscape - aimed at promoting belonging and success of first generation and/or low-income (FLI) students at Stanford. In this role, you will also support existing programming around inclusion, diversity, equity, and access in learning environments (IDEAL). In this role, you will report to one of the Associate Directors for Faculty and Lecturer Programs, which is part of the Academic Teaching Programs team within CTL.
In this role, you will:
Facilitate programs on IDEAL Pedagogy , such as workshops and learning communities.
Offer pedagogical services such as consultations and mid-quarter feedback for instructors, based on requests, generally and related to IDEAL pedagogical approaches.
Organize activities of the Leveling the Learning Landscape working group on curriculum equity and innovation.
Help develop and organize activities and materials for a new Curriculum Transformation Institute.
Assist with implementation of assessment and evaluation efforts associated with the programs and services listed above (IDEAL Pedagogy, Leveling the Learning Landscape, Curriculum Transformation Institute).
Synthesize information in reports, summaries, and outreach materials for the programs and services listed above.
Guide and manage student workers with roles contributing to the programs and services listed above.
The position may include opportunities to assist with teaching, co-teach, or be a guest contributor to courses on pedagogy, particularly related to areas of responsibility.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Master’s degree in Education, Engineering, Humanities, Social Science, Science, and/or Sustainability OR Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Two or more academic terms of demonstrated success teaching undergraduates in a college and/or university setting using inclusive, equity-oriented teaching practices.
Documented training and/or coursework in university pedagogy/teaching.
Demonstrated interest, experience, and effectiveness working with student, faculty, and staff populations that are highly diverse in terms of, for example, race, language of origin, ethnicity, nationality, religion, first-generation to college, age, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic experience and interests.
Effective planning and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills across modalities, interpersonally and in writing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage time to achieve multiple overlapping and distinct tasks and meet short- and long-term deadlines.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Proactive approach to communication and to continuous improvement of individual and collaborative processes and products.
Physical requirements, including:
Frequently grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.
Occasionally use a telephone, writing or note taking, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 25 pounds.
Ability to use voice or voice-assisted technology to present information/communicate with others.

Doctoral degree in Education, Engineering, Humanities, Social Science, Science, and/or Sustainability.
Two years of university undergraduate teaching experience, including at least one experience as sole instructor of record.

A brief description of your motivation, experience, and effectiveness working with student, faculty, and staff populations that are highly diverse (100-250 words).
Your first three steps when developing or running a new project. Note that these need not be educational programs, but can be any kind of project, from writing a dissertation to renovating a house to coaching a children’s sports team.
The field in which you hold a Master’s degree.
Any additional degrees you have received or are currently progressing towards, and the fields they are in.

The expected pay range for this position is $69,000 to $97,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
