About the Unit/Department/Team We are growing the EMS team here at Lakewood. We currently serve multiple communities in central MN with 911 response as well as BLS and ALS transports. We staff our team with EMTs and Paramedics providing care up to the level of critical care during transports. Our annual volume is over 1200 requests per year. We collaborate with multiple teams inside and outside Lakewood. We received a new ambulance in 2023 will receive two additional ambulances soon. We appreciate the system support of growth and innovation. Mission for Position Assist the Emergency Services team to provide personalized, quality care while obtaining EMT licensure within one year. Duties & Responsibilities Become an EMT at Lakewood Health System within one year of hire Required for continued employment Complete and pass an EMT class Obtain certifications from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and Minnesota's Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board Complete EMT orientation at Lakewood Health System Assist Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) and Paramedics within un-licensed scope of practice. Patient Care Support: Assist with patient care activities as directed, such as lifting and moving patients, securing patients for transport, and maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity. Logistical Support: Ensure ambulances and other emergency response vehicles are stocked with necessary medical supplies, equipment, and medications. Perform routine checks on equipment and report any issues promptly. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of medical supplies, equipment inventory, and vehicle maintenance schedules. Assist with documentation and paperwork related to patient care, incident reports, and billing. Communications Support: Assist with communication between EMS personnel, hospitals, dispatch centers, and other emergency response agencies. Operate communication equipment and relay information accurately and efficiently. Training and Education: Participate in ongoing training sessions and continuing education programs to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills related to emergency medical procedures, equipment usage, and safety protocols. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control measures, and regulatory requirements governing EMS operations. Follow established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the EMS team, including EMTs, Paramedics, dispatchers, and other support staff, to provide seamless and coordinated care to patients. Patient and Visitor Assistance: Provide assistance and guidance to patients and visitors as needed, including directing them to the appropriate areas within the facility, answering questions, and addressing concerns in a courteous and helpful manner. Follow security protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and security of everyone on the premises. Position Type Full-time, hourly.
