JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Title: Buyer Location of Position: United States -- Wisconsin -- Sturgeon Bay Business Group: Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding Department: Purchasing Position Type: Full-Time; Permanent; Exempt Reports To: Purchasing Manager Position Summary: This position is responsible for the procurement of goods and services in direct support our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. The successful candidate will support the 1,000+ working men and women on our waterfront by being the primary contact between suppliers and internal customers; managing supplier performance, flow of material to yard, request for quotes, purchase order placement, expedite deliveries and correct receipt discrepancies; promptly communicating any material shortages, late deliveries or non-conformances; spearheading solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule; and understanding and maintaining the ERP system to provide accurate information to all departments. Detailed Description: Manage Supplier Performance. Execute the procurement of goods and services. Communicate parts availability to internal customers. Responsible for tactical goals, metrics, and reports. Create purchase orders to meet in yard dates. Resolve receiving discrepancies with the shipyard and supplier. Expediting -- Contact suppliers to determine delivery status and communicate appropriately internally. Develop cost savings plans. Enter and maintain pricing, supplier database, orders in the ERP system. Create and administer progress payment process. Execute and monitor RFQ\'s to the supply base and assist in analyzing the results. Participate in meetings with Operations, Program Management, and Facilities Management. Analyze and interpret industry conditions which may have an effect on design, lead time and cost. Provide guidance and feedback to other functional departments to improve processes/procedures. Work with Warehouse Personnel on receiving/inventory discrepancies, shippers, procurement inspection reports, order quantities, and packaging requirements.
