The Role

Proofpoint is seeking an Executive Communications Lead to the CEO. This individual will define, lead, and execute the internal and external communications strategy for Proofpoint’s CEO. The ideal candidate will have superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate across functions and influence at all levels, including the C-suite.

Your day-to-day

  • Partner with key stakeholders across the company to drive strategic communications for the CEO and CEO staff in alignment with Proofpoint’s brand narrative and culture tenets.

  • Develop a deep, intuitive understanding of Proofpoint’s business, to provide the best possible strategic messaging to the CEO and executive team.

  • Build networks within the Executive Team and other functions to better understand the needs and sentiment of employees within the organization.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications and other parts of the organization to ensure alignment of messages.

  • Work closely with the CEO, his Chief of Staff and the executive team, to create and drive meaningful external communications while supporting activities such as customer-facing events, and industry speaking opportunities.

  • Plan, write, edit, and distribute a variety of global strategic employee-focused communications, including long-form content, town halls, all-employee meetings, internal and external speaking engagements, video scripts, and more.

  • Stay aware of industry trends and news that support our company strategy and build engagement among Proofpoint employees and external audiences.

  • Be consistently mindful of new and relevant trends in communications to maintain a culturally conscious presence internally and externally.

  • In partnership with the Corporate Communications Team, constantly push for innovative ideas, platforms, and employee engagement strategies. Understand what is coming next and incorporate these ideas into our overall comms strategy.

  • Further Proofpoint’s employee engagement strategy by partnering with leaders to build morale and stay connected with their teams.

  • Be a strategic advisor to the CEO on messaging, tone, and delivery. Must be comfortable providing and receiving honest, constructive feedback.

What you bring to the team

  • BA in Communications, Journalism or similar

  • +10 years working in Corporate and Executive Communications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment with ease

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively and clearly to both internal and external audiences

  • Ability to anticipate, coordinate, and facilitate activities with colleagues

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work well under pressure, responding to and appropriately prioritizing multiple requests with a sense of urgency

  • Track record and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy and discretion

  • Experience promoting and supporting key, sensitive initiatives in an organization

  • Ability to conduct and analyze measurement of communications program

  • Ease in working cross-functionally and building relationships to connect dots across company

  • Skill for managing multiple, high-urgency projects simultaneously; flexibility is essential

  • Ability and ease working with executive leaders

  • Proficiency with multi-media and video-conferencing technology

  • Prior experience with cybersecurity will be incredibly helpful

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets as set out below. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable pay and/or equity. We offer a competitive benefits package that includes flexible time off, a robust well-being program that provides for 4 global wellbeing days per year, and a 3-week work from anywhere option.

Base Pay Ranges:

SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area:

Base Pay Range: 189,750.00 - 278,300.00 USD

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:

Base Pay Range: 158,400.00 - 232,320.00 USD

All other cities and states excluding those listed above:

Base Pay Range: 144,825.00 - 212,410.00 USD
