The mission of the Growth AI team is to help LinkedIn’s guests and members get value from LinkedIn, find communities to engage with, expand their network and professional knowledge, and grow their engagement with LinkedIn through all channels. This team is at the center of building high-quality and highly-scalable AI solutions to fuel LinkedIn’s future member and business growth. We develop cutting-edge AI technologies leveraging deep learning and large language models in our solutions, and support many areas of member engagement with LinkedIn including PYMK (people you may know), Follow recommendation, Notification ranking, Email personalization, etc, for more than 1 Billion members. We are closely partnering with many products, engineering and infrastructure teams to build the next generation AI-first product experience for our members.

As a Principal AI Engineer, you will be one of the overall technical leads of Growth AI, covering a broad area of member engagement AI solutions. You will guide the team on advancing state of the art machine learning algorithms to help build the next-gen AI models to power various growth pillars. You are expected to deliver significant AI-powered member experience improvement and have a direct impact on LinkedIn's top line metrics. You will closely work with product and engineering partners (at the level of Senior Directors+ and Principal Engineers+) to define and shape product and technical strategies for LinkedIn. You have the opportunity to directly influence LinkedIn’s senior leadership (including C-level executives) with your technical expertise. You will be able to work with other senior leaders and senior individual contributors across LinkedIn to shape the company’s culture and values. You are also highly encouraged to have a strong external presence and publish/present your innovation in top tier conferences and journals.

Basic QualificationsBA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience 7+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions7+ years experience programming languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, etc. 5+ years in an architect or technical leadership position

Preferred QualificationsPh.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics or related fields12+ years’ experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions 7+ years in an architect or technical leadership position5+ years experience in Hadoop, Cosmos, Spark or MPI with solving big data problems5+ years experience in SparkML, TensorFlow, Caffe or PyTorch with solving AI problemsStrong academic credentials with publications in tier-1 journals and conferencesExperience in designing and optimizing recommender systems that create highly personalized experiences for LinkedIn’s members and scale to solve complex business problemsExperience in leading large scale development projects from concept to multiple releases in productionExperience of technical leadership guiding and mentoring top engineering and operations talentExperience leading high-impact, cross-company initiativesExperience with deep learning, LLMs, graphs/graph mining, SEO, or Social GrowthExpert in Search Engine, Information Extraction, Knowledge Graph, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision techniquesDemonstrated ability to work with peers in engineering and product management across teams to set technical and product directions

The pay range for this role is $207,000 to $340,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
