The mission of the Trust Engineering org is to build Trust into the LinkedIn economic graph. As one of the most important arms of Trust Engineering, the Incident Management Team plays a critical role in this mission. The Incident Management Team is the first line of defense against abuse of our members' accounts or systems. The team is tasked with detecting attacks, triaging attacks and mitigating damage to members or systems. In addition, the team develops cutting edge tooling and automation to assist in responding to attacks, and is an invaluable resource providing highly usable information about attackers, attack techniques and weaknesses in our systems to the Anti-Abuse team, and product team’s across LinkedIn.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer on the Trust Incident Response team.

Responsibilities:

As an Engineer on the Incident Response team you will be responsible for:

· Define strategies of incident response and research, work with managers to set up the team for success.

· Working with LinkedIn's Abuse Prevention infrastructure Team, AI/Machine Learning Team, Trust & Safety, Corp Communication, and Legal teams to respond to abuse attacks, identify attack signals, research to mitigate threats and work with product team to improve defenses

· Working with LinkedIn various security teams on identifying new attack trends and patterns, identifying bad actors, abusive usage, leading data-driven investigations, and creating proactive detection capabilities against malicious activity.

· Doing in depth research into potential abuse attacking vectors and further proof-of-concept on improving current defense, including, but not limited to, diving deep into data and code and running experiments on active products.

· Building automation tools that improve anti-abuse incident response and defense.

Basic Qualifications:

· BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.

· 2+ years industry experience in software design and development, with programming experience in Java, Python, or C/C++; with CS fundamentals, such as algorithms and data structures.

· 2+ years of data analytics experience, using SQL and working with databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Passionate in security research, exploring unknowns, analyzing security logs and investigating attacks; experience in reverse engineering and root cause analysis.

· Experience in analyzing complex data to find outliers and abuse.

· Ability to display the proper sense of urgency while addressing critical security issues quickly and working with multiple stakeholders to keep our members safe.

· Eagerness to explore unknown abuse or unexplained behaviors.

· Security design experience in infrastructure or applications.

· Working experience in big data, streaming data.

Suggested Skills:

· Experience leading engineers to tackle large-scale problems with software solutions

· Experience working with large data sets and developing insights

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $117,000 - $192,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
