This role will be based in Sunnyvale, CA.

As part of our world-class software engineering team, you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing how our systems and applications perform and operate. You will be charged with building the next-generation infrastructure and platforms for LinkedIn, including but not limited to: an application and service delivery platform, massively scalable data storage and replication systems, cutting-edge search platform, best-in-class AI platform, experimentation platform, privacy and compliance platform etc.

You will work and learn among the best, putting to use your passion for distributed technologies and algorithms, API design and systems design, and your passion for writing code that performs at an extreme scale. LinkedIn has already pioneered well-known open-source infrastructure projects like Apache Kafka, Pinot, Azkaban, Samza, Venice, Datahub, Feather, etc. We also work with industry-standard open-source infrastructure products like Kubernetes, GRPC, and GraphQL - come join our infrastructure teams and share the knowledge with a broader community while making a real impact within our company.

In this specific role, you'll develop strategies to optimize performance, enhance efficiency, and master capacity planning. Additionally, you'll be instrumental in building platforms and solutions that bring these strategies to life. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in the core of our operations, ensuring we stay ahead of anticipated growth and navigate a rapidly evolving tech landscape. Your decisions will have a direct impact on the scalability, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness of our applications and infrastructure—particularly in our stateful, nearline, and offline systems. You'll be integral in how we build and operate massive systems for the future

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the performance and career development of a team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding.

  • Participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap.

  • Be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.

  • Work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.

  • Manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.

  • Develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.

  • Produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Basic Qualifications:

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering/technical management and people management.

• 10+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering

• Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/CPP/Scala/etc.)

• Hands on experience developing distributed systems, databases, large scale data systems and/or Backend API's

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline

  • 4+ years of software engineering management experience

  • 2+ years exp managing managers

The pay range for this role is $180,000 to $300,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
