Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer based out of Sunnyvale, CA . You will support the manufacturing and testing of marine propulsion and power generations systems working on various manufacturing processes for high value gearing and steam turbine assemblies, machined components, and welded fabrications. These processes include precision manual assembly, welding, machining, bonding, finishing and mechanical assembly.

What You'll get to Do:

  • Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an excellent team of experienced assembly mechanics, machinists, welders and engineers.

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment.

  • Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations, optimized production area layouts, manage bills of materials, create detailed work instructions, process procedures and tooling requirements with emphasis on safety, foreign object elimination and equipment/system maintenance.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new capital equipment for establishing expanded production processes.

  • Select roles will also support final acceptance testing of product and provide technical support to test facility operation as necessary.

  • The ability to support multiple production shifts is required (first, second, third shifts, and weekends) based on the assignment and current and future production schedules.

Basic Qualifications Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor's in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology Engineering or Math) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

  • Experience with mechanical assembly processes.

  • Experience in continuous improvement.

  • Experience in technical writing.

  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Secret Clearance.

  • Experience with propulsion and power plant machinery or experience building large equipment structures.

  • GDT Control Plan Development and Execution.

  • Experience utilizing a modern ERP system.

  • Manufacturing equipment, product testing and facility operational experience.

  • Experience leading technical projects requiring project planning, scheduling, resource identification and financial management.

  • Experience with new product introduction.

  • Experience with applying Lean Six Sigma principles on low volume, high mix processes.

  • Experience leading technical projects requiring project planning, scheduling, resource identification and financial management.

  • Experience with Installation of New Equipment and or Processing in a highly controlled environment.

  • Experience with heat Treatment of materials.

Salary Range: $120,900 - $181,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
