This position will play a critical role within the Line of Business Compliance team supporting Travel & Lifestyle Services (“TLS”), which provides American Express Card Members globally with a full range of travel and lifestyle products. The position will provide strategic support to drive innovation for the business while building an effective framework for compliance with applicable laws and regulations for the global consumer travel business, features and processes. Particular focus will be dedicated to new product development (including associated Card benefits), marketing strategies, risk management initiatives, process control, customer communications and complaints.
The successful candidate will lead a team of Compliance professionals in managing an effective compliance program for travel products and providing strategic support to drive continuous product innovation. This is a highly visible and strategic position with significant and regular interaction with senior leaders across the company.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Provide solution-oriented compliance support to assist business colleagues in reaching their goals while meeting compliance requirements
Review proposed marketing campaign materials and strategies to effectively mitigate compliance risks
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders (e.g., General Counsel’s Office, Operational Excellence, Independent Compliance Testing, Privacy and Internal Audit Group)
Support new initiatives through the New Product Approval process and integration of effective controls, testing & ongoing monitoring into new and existing processes
Manage an effective Compliance program and oversee and maintain a robust control environment to monitor third-party risk
Assist internal stakeholders with regulatory examination requests and drafting responses to regulatory findings
Drive implementation of policy and regulatory requirements in the areas of UDAAP, travel, general credit card practices, general banking, and other relevant federal, state and local regulations
Lead, coach and develop a team of Compliance Managers
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated regulatory knowledge with consumer financial regulations including experience with consumer protection and UDAAP.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in the development and selection of compliant solutions
Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and support multiple priorities simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt easily to frequent change
Functional knowledge of American Express TLS products
Strong collaborative skills and experience leading and working in a matrixed and agile environment and on cross-functional teams
Strong leadership, analytical, organizational and managerial skills; ability to lead and inspire others through continuous coaching, feedback, recognition and encouragement
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to persuade and influence
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with all levels of the organization
Proactive, results-oriented, and self-driven
Creative and highly collaborative ability to solve business challenges
Prior credit card or travel industry, compliance, legal or risk experience a plus.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree preferred or equivalent work experience
Qualifications
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
