Courtyard Manor of Swartz Creek Direct Care Worker in Swartz Creek, Michigan
NATURE OF WORK:
We are looking for a dedicated Direct Care Staff to perform work of moderate difficulty providing habilitation services to individuals with disabilities and to assist clients living with mobility limitations. Your duties will include performing housekeeping tasks, assisting clients with meals, and taking care of their personal hygiene needs and socializing with the clients is very important.
To ensure success as a Direct Care Worker, you should possess knowledge of best practices in providing care and experience in a similar role. Ultimately, an outstanding Direct Care Worker will be someone who can be entrusted with the wellbeing of clients and one who demonstrates a caring approach.
Direct Care Worker Responsibilities:
- Provides services to individuals with disabilities to enable them to obtain independence and/or maintain safe and sanitary living conditions.
- Providing immobile, ill, or frail clients with assistance, company, and comfort.
- Monitoring the physical, mental, and emotional conditions of clients and reporting changes to designated parties.
- Performing personal hygiene care and housekeeping duties.
- Preparing meals and assisting clients with eating and drinking.
- Assisting with the use of incontinence products or providing bathroom visit support.
- Assisting clients from their beds into chairs or wheelchairs, and back.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe environment.
- Provide and participate in activities, socializing with the clients is very important. We do not need Couch Potatoes
- Attends meetings and training as required.
- Advocate for individuals with disabilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of:
- Techniques and practices utilized to provide services to persons with disabilities.
- Housekeeping practices, including cleaning, laundry, and dishwashing
- Guidelines for proper storage and preparation of food.
Training will be provided to Gain Basic knowledge of:
- Techniques used to assist persons with bathing and personal hygiene.
- Laws and regulations governing care providers who work with persons with disabilities.
Preparation of documents and records.
Skill in or the Ability to:
- Building positive working relationships with persons who have a range of physical, psychological, and developmental disabilities.
- Creating a clean, pleasant, home - like atmosphere in client residences.
- Creating and maintaining a positive working environment.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, coworkers, and the public.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Direct Care Worker Requirements:
- Exceptional ability to assist clients with mobility, personal care, and hygiene needs.
- Ability to perform basic housekeeping duties, run errands, and prepare meals.
- Ability to maintain a clean and sanitary environment,
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a caring approach
Willingness to work irregular hours, including evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
any combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate or equivalent.
Wage/Salary
$16.00 Per Hour
