Description:

Manager of Patient Logistics Department is accountable for applying positive strategies to promote operational management and supports an environment of excellence for the department. Guides evidenced based practice that leads and supports the administrative coordinator staff in performing their role of directing patient care, making immediate administrative decisions, utilizing accepted hospital standards, policies, and procedures in the absence of area Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents. Provides communication updates concerning organizational changes. Ensures compliance with all healthcare standards and requirements established by various licensing, regulatory, and accreditation bodies. Develops and implements day to day operational plans, goals, and objectives. Maintains a working knowledge of policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior. Supports the vision, mission and strategic plans of St. Joseph's and Trinity Health.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adequate staffing plan to promote safe quality care coverage 24/7.

  • Develops and evaluates unit productivity plan and adjusts to reach targeted levels.

  • Collaborates with finance department to develop and maintain unit/department budget for cost effective, efficient care delivery.

  • Understanding and utilization of data that will be incorporated to improve patient placement and length of stay.

  • Process oriented.

  • Coordinates all staff to achieve most appropriate bed utilization.

  • Coordinates response to urgent/emergent situations as evidenced by reallocation of personnel and resources.

  • Unit and organizational quality improvement and outcome-based initiatives.

  • Strategic goal achievement and support.

  • Collaborate with others including peers, physician colleagues, and administrators.

  • Nursing Leadership rounds and implementation of service recovery strategies.

  • Coaches, mentors and supports all colleagues and staff.

  • Hires, evaluates, initiates corrective action and terminates employees as needed.

  • Participates in patient care activities as determined by unit needs.

  • Ensures compliance with healthcare standards and requirements established by various licensing, regulatory, and accreditation bodies.

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.

  • Performance and staff development process.

  • Oversee staff orientation programs.

  • Patient and staff satisfaction.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, administration or health related field required. Master’s degree or higher strongly preferred.

  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of healthcare operations. A minimum of 8-years of progressive experience in the field will be considered based on specific department needs and/or requirements.

  • Certification/licensure as required by regulatory agency.

  • Specialty credentialing & educational degree according to field of practice and specialty area preferred.

  • Maintains all licensures and certifications according to NYS regulations and specialty area requirements.

  • Participates in continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and services.

  • Maintain BLS & ACLS certification. Maintain other certifications appropriate to field.

Physical Demands:

Pay Range: $41.45 - $62.20

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
