SUNY Upstate Medical University Radiation Therapy Clinical Instructor in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

  • Preparing and coordinating clinical rotation schedules, as well as any necessary schedule changes

  • Facilitating the rotation of all students through the clinical affiliate

  • Conducting 2 weekly evening laboratory sessions with junior students in the spring semesters

  • Orientation of students to the requirements of the clinical program

  • Maintaining positive working relations with all clinical affiliates

  • Maintaining records of student clinical competency achievement and course completion.

  • Securing new clinical affiliates in relation to program growth by corresponding with and subsequently visiting potential clinical sites and administrators

  • Integrating clinical education with didactic education

  • Maintaining all current necessary course documents related to the clinical portion of the program

  • Visiting students in their clinical setting to assess their clinical performance at least once each semester (multiple visits may be required).

  • Distributing and collecting student clinical evaluation forms. Evaluate and discuss results with the student and reviewing therapist, and discussing progress with the PD.

  • Verifying student compliance with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification and other requirements prior to their entering clinical settings

  • Participating in

  • teaching of Program didactic courses as required.

  • program, college and university staff committee meetings as required

  • program's continuous self-assessment process and annual program review

  • faculty development workshop, student recruitment and admissions activities

  • Preparing and maintaining course outlines and objectives.

  • Pursuing continuing education in professional practice and instructional methodology

  • Maintains current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy

  • NYS Dept. of Health licensure (or eligible) in Radiation Therapy.

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of 3 years of current clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist with modern equipment

  • Current NYS driver’s license

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field and 2 years of experience working with radiation therapy experience

    Work Days:

Monday-Friday, various days and evenings hours in spring semester
