Position Summary :

Responsible for the operational functions of the THNY Laboratory Quality Assurance program. The responsibilities include organizing, coordinating, quality initiatives in the laboratory system. The Specialist will work closely with the Laboratory Managers and Director to develop and maintain the Laboratory Quality Plan, perform, and monitor audits and lead performance improvement initiatives. Provides input and advice to the Laboratory Quality Program covering disciplines of the Clinical Laboratory, Anatomic, Pathology and Transfusion Medicine. Provides consultant and advisory services to facilitate implementation of outcome measures to monitor patient care and delivery. Demonstrate operational functions related to laboratory compliance, interact with regulatory bodies, a member of the THNY Quality Committee-SJH & SPHP, Transfusion Utilization Committee and the Infection Committee of SJH. Duties performed in a manner as to apply and contribute to THNY mission and values.

Demonstrates the organization's commitment to sound ethical business practices as directed by the Corporate Compliance Office and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Education Requirements :

  1. Requires a bachelor’s degree and certificate from a school of medical technology, or any other culmination meeting supervisory qualifications of the NYS Department of Health.

Prefer certification by a nationally recognized clinical laboratory certifying agency Hold a valid New York State License from the Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT). Prefer but not required Quality Management Certification or American Society for Quality certification.

Experience Requirements :

  1. Six years laboratory experience required.

  2. Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  3. Familiar with technology related to practice in assigned section.

  4. Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma

  5. Experience in Laboratory Quality Assurance, Compliance and Regulatory

Annual Salary Range: $92,352 - $121,888

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
