Responsibilities

Job Summary

This job is responsible for maintaining a presence in the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) and local Emergency Departments to facilitate informal communication, build relationships with EMS/ED providers and to facilitate improvement in quality outcomes of services rendered in prehospital care. An incumbent serves as liaison with Trauma/Stroke/Cardiac/Emergency Services leadership, EMS Medical Directors and other key stakeholders to advocate for and implement appropriate changes. An incumbent assists in the assessment of EMS educational needs and the development/implementation of training in accordance with WA State EMS/Trauma and American College of Surgery Committee on Trauma Standards and designation requirements.

Work accountabilities also include: 1) interpreting clinical data and reviewing patient care in relation to legal standards of care; 2) reviewing EMS and ED patient care records to identify trends and opportunities for improvement; 3) collaborating on the development and/or deliver of real-time education to prehospital providers and other stakeholders as necessary; 4) identifying areas of need through quality assurance/quality improvement activities; 5) representing VMFH at community meetings relating to EMS services; 6) coordinating prehospital case reviews and implementing new initiatives to improve EMS processes and relationships with the community, servicing EMS agencies and the VMFH Trauma Program.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in nursing and four years of related work experience in an acute care hospital in Emergency, Trauma or Critical Care that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities; OR

Graduation from a state-approved EMG-Paramedic education program and two years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

Licensure/Certification

  1. Current Washington state licensure as an EMT-Paramedic, OR

  2. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Washington State Board of Nursing.

  • Note: If qualified under #2 above, must maintain Trauma Nurse Core Course Instructor (TNCC) certification through the Emergency Nurses Association.

  • RN with Nationally-registered EMG-Paramedic and/or National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) Level 1 Paramedic Instructor is preferred.

Pay Range

$49.20 - $71.34 /hour
