WTW Manual Tester in Taguig, Philippines

The Manual Tester is responsible for the creation of tests to identify issues with software before the product launch. Duties include identifying and analysing any bugs and errors found during the test phase and documenting them for review after. Other tasks include developing and running new tests, reporting on the results, and collaborating with software developers to fix TAS Technology Applications issues.

The Role

  • Ensure there is the right level of visibility and traceability in the testing process to deliver high quality products, where necessary produce test evidence that meets standards

  • Work with the Product Owner and the Test Lead to understand the scope of testing within a sprint and release; do more risk based and focused/targeted testing as opposed to a blanket testing approach; understand the product vision so that better customer facing tests can be utilized during the sprint effort

  • Ensure all user stories have valid and testable acceptance criteria

  • Promote the value of the concept of the three amigos where the QA, the Developer, and the Product Owner are actively communicating about the user story under test

  • Facilitation of testing discussions with other QA Test Leads when user stories cross feature boundaries; work to learn the entire application so that cross boundary testing’s needs can be identified

  • Be an advocate of QA within your scrum team and promote Continuous Improvement

  • Help the scrum teams implement and follow best practices to prevent bugs/defects; place an equal focus on prevention as discovery of bugs/defects. Work with the QA Lead and Test Manager to discuss best practice ideas.

  • Help build and maintain relationships across the various product development functions

  • Ensure you are always testing against the valid data; work with the data team to ensure you have correct member data and create your own where necessary

  • Ensure department risks and issues are raised appropriately with the Test Manager and Test Lead

  • Leverage automated testing to ensure the right level of regression testing coverage is present

  • Help enforce the Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) for user story and defect work as necessary

  • Participate in product demos to better understand the product and customer needs

  • Create and maintain a Regression test suite; review defects from the customer to understand where the testing process has gaps

The Requirement

  • A Bachelor's/College Degree will be beneficial and experience in a technology related discipline, such as IT or Engineering or equivalent experience is necessary

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of SDLC process.

  • Understands basic practices of agile software development

  • Knowledge in Unix (Linux/AIX), Oracle, and SQL

  • Knowledge in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts applied in Python.

  • Experience in QA testing tools

  • Experience in developing and managing the delivery of system/software development projects in a structured environment throughout the entire lifecycle

  • Experience in Financial industry

  • Experience in leading a small team / project

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
