The Microsoft Silicon Engineering Solutions and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team is responsible for developing and delivering the hardware and firmware that is responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. We are seeking a talented firmware integration and validation engineer who is passionate about delivering highly quality server firmware recipe for Microsoft Azure Cloud Server platforms.

The candidate would contribute to the Microsoft cloud server firmware recipe validation and debug, implement and improve automation test framework, define the validation strategy, and collaborate closely with program management, hardware engineers, firmware engineer, manufacturing, cloud service teams and external ODM/OEM partners.

Responsibilities

• Study project firmware NUDDs, define project FW validation strategy.

• Drive project firmware integration and validation activities to deliver high quality firmware recipe.

• Measure and improve project test coverage and validation efficiency.

• Debug across HW, FW and SW stacks and skilled at using SW and HW debugging tools.

• Streamline the firmware development and validation process.

• Work effectively in an Agile environment following and practicing Scrum processes.

Qualifications

• S./M.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent additional industry experience

• 15+ years of experience in FW Validation or FW development.

• Excellent FW debugging and troubleshooting capabilities. Can debug issue cross multiple functions, like HW, BMC and UEFI BIOS.

• Product cycle experience overseeing projects from product planning to product shipping and sustaining.

• Have the experience in test cases design and test case library maintenance.

• A high tolerance for ambiguity and change

• Excellent English written and oral communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have automation test development experience.

• Have remote debugging experience and can debug systems in other Geos.

• Strong server firmware debugging skills.
